TEF-MAG®: patented gear pumps for highly corrosive liquids

Pumping corrosive liquids places high demands on machine and material. If the whole thing also has to be pulsation-free and to high heads, usually only rotary positive displacement pumps remain to choose from. These are usually made only of metallic materials.

So what can you do if you have to move small quantities of corrosive liquids pulsation-free against high back pressures and a metal pump is not an option? MARCH PUMPEN has closed this gap in the market with specially developed and patented magnetic-drive external gear pumps made entirely of non-metallic materials.

  • USA/Canada patent no. US 10,189,005 B2

Design and materials

The TEF-MAG® series was developed specifically for operation with highly corrosive chemicals under extreme industrial conditions.

  • Casing: machined from robust solid material and corrosion-resistant plastics such as PP, PVDF, PEEK, PVC or PE.
  • Shafts: the wetted pump shafts are made of non-metallic technical ceramics such as SSiC or Al2O3 with the best possible chemical resistance.
  • Gears: made of self-lubricating high-performance plastics. This means the pumps handle even low-viscosity liquids without problems.
  • Drive: power is transmitted without contact by strong NdFeB permanent magnets. The pumps are hermetically sealed and work without a mechanical shaft seal. This ensures safe, leak-free pumping of corrosive, toxic and explosive liquids.

For potentially explosive areas of Zones 1 and 2, the pumps are also available in corrosion-resistant, conductive plastics.

Examples of use

The field of application is wide-ranging and extends across almost every industry in which corrosive liquids have to be metered or pumped pulsation-free at high pressure.

  • Chemical metering pump in the battery recycling process
  • Metering pump for neutralisation chemistry in wastewater treatment
  • Catalyst pump in biodiesel production
  • Pumping acids and alkalis, e.g. for CIP cleaning in the food industry (FDA materials available)
